You may or may not have noticed, but the school web address recently changed to www.southsaxons.com.

Along with this new domain name, every student has an online Google Apps account. If you are new to Google Apps, you will see that Google has created a series of on-line applications that include an email account (gmail that uses your_name@southsaxons.com instead of your_name@gmail.com), a calendar, google docs (word processing, powerpoint and excel) and an easy way to make web pages.

To get started, you just need to activate your account. Go to www.google.com/a/southsaxons.com .

user: lastname_firstname10 (your last name_your first name[last two digits of the year you graduate])

password: your student ID number (which you must change in the first email lesson)

So if Joe Student graduates in 2010, his user name is:

user: student_joe10

password: 123456

Enter the goofy letters that appear as a picture.

You will change your password in the first Email project listed below.

The security characters that you have to enter are often very hard to read - (dogroche) If you miss the first time, the second image is usually easier. Once activated, you will see the southsaxon student start page (below) with the different Google services that are available to you.

For this set of projects, we will take a brief look at each of the Google Apps. (make sure you do the projects in this order)
